Romeo J. DeBartolome, Jr., Announces Candidacy for Logan Township Supervisor, Launches “People Before Politics” Campaign

Romeo J. DeBartolome, Jr., of Greenwood, filed nomination papers as a candidate for Logan Township Supervisor on the Libertarian Party ticket today, July 23, 2001. “I am excited to be able to offer the residents of Logan Township a choice on the November ballot.”

Mr. DeBartolome is a retired Food Inspector with the United States Department of Agriculture. He served in the United States Army from 1958-1964. “The best thing about being retired is that I will be able to devote my energies full time to the residents of Logan Township. I don’t think my opponent will be able to pledge that level of service.”

“I have been talking to the Logan Township residents and going to township meetings. I hear a lot of frustration from people. If they elect me in November, I will always put their concerns before those of special interests.”

One of Mr. DeBartolome’s concerned is with arbitrary enforcement of zoning and other ordinances. “When I look around the neighborhoods, I see certain individuals cited for zoning violations. Then I see other neighbors with the same apparent “violations”, but they are not cited. Why is that?

“If we cannot fairly and thoroughly enforce ordinances across the board, we should rethink our strategy for zoning enforcement and other regulations in the township, and make the appropriate changes in policy.”

Mr. DeBartolome is concerned that certain individuals carry more political weight than ordinary citizens when it comes to land use issues. “I am concerned with the current trend of industrialization in Logan Township. I am not anti-growth. What I am saying is, on what principles are land use and development decisions being made? Are the concerns of the residents being taken into consideration? I intend to explore these issues throughout my campaign.”

Mr. DeBartolome pledges to look for ways to reduce the tax burden for township residents. “I don’t like seeing the government taking one penny more than necessary from anyone.”

Mr. DeBartolome lives with his wife Lisa and son Romeo III. In his leisure time he enjoys working on antique cars and going fishing and playing ball with his son.

Our goal is to dramatically reduce the size and scope of government in our lifetimes. We seek to return the government to its original Constitutional size (at least).

We hope that you will join us in making this country once again a beacon of liberty and prosperity to the entire world.
